Former Vice President Mike Pence has criticized former President Donald Trump’s abortion and debt policies. Pence claims his previous employer was unconservative. Given Pence’s steadfast commitment to Trump as Vice President, this comment surprises many. However, it shows the widening Republican division on crucial topics. How this will affect the party’s future and elections is unknown.

In an interview with Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” Vice President Mike Pence emphasized President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign vow to rule conservatively. He said, “Look, in 2016, Donald Trump promised to govern as a conservative.” Sunday will include the whole interview. He makes no such guarantee now. Our nation’s course has been causing alarm recently. The contempt for life is a serious concern. It’s sad that some people are abandoning this basic right. Our national debt is another matter. Our debt now equals our GDP, which is worrying. It has serious consequences for our economy and future. These challenges must be examined critically and addressed proactively.

The speaker recently said that Trump and Biden agree on the national debt. This announcement comes during a heated presidential election where both contenders are seeking public support. Despite their political disagreements, they appear to agree on this. Stay tuned for 2020 election updates. Today, many want a party that values growth, economic restraint, and change. Republicans fit the bill for some. One said, “the Republican Party has to be the party of growth and fiscal responsibility and reform.” A bright future for our nation depends on these ideals. How the Republican Party will preserve these values in the future is unknown.

It’s disappointing when politicians break commitments or don’t address key issues. American leaders should be open and honest. Politicians should prioritize their constituents before themselves. Only then can our country progress.
