Over the weekend, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with a delegation of African leaders who had embarked on a “peace mission” to Russia. This meeting came just a day after the delegation’s visit to Ukraine. Unfortunately, despite the talks, there was no apparent advancement made towards resolving any issues.

On Friday, a delegation of seven African leaders embarked on a mission to Ukraine in an effort to bring an end to the ongoing 16-month-long conflict. The delegation comprised of the presidents of Comoros, Senegal, South Africa, and Zambia, along with the prime minister of Egypt and top envoys from the Republic of Congo and Uganda. Their visit is aimed at finding a resolution to the crisis and bringing peace to the region.

Over the weekend, African leaders made their way to St. Petersburg to attend Russia’s prestigious international economic forum. Among the attendees was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who met with the African leaders on Saturday.

The delegation’s proposals were not very detailed.
