Veteran broadcaster Chris Wallace is officially departing CNN, ending a relatively short stint at the network that lasted under three years. Known for his distinguished career across multiple media formats—radio, print, broadcast TV, cable, and streaming—Wallace joined CNN in 2021 after a long tenure at Fox News, where he became one of the most respected political journalists in the industry.

CNN CEO Mark Thompson praised Wallace in a statement shared with Fox News Digital, acknowledging his dedication and extensive experience. “Chris Wallace is one of the most respected political journalists in the news business with a unique track record across radio, print, broadcast television, cable television, and streaming,” Thompson stated. “We want to thank him for the dedication and wisdom he’s brought to all his work at CNN and to wish him the very best for the future.”

While CNN reportedly offered Wallace a contract extension, he opted to move on from the network, according to a source familiar with the decision. His departure was first reported by The Daily Beast and has sparked speculation about his next steps and potential opportunities.

Wallace’s exit marks another major shift in the evolving landscape of cable news, where networks continue to compete for top journalistic talent. As for Wallace, his reputation and expertise suggest he could move in any number of directions, making his next career move one to watch closely.
